Course Outline

We will examine how alienation from nature mirrors our dissociation from the body.  We will consider the implications of increased integration of body/mind/spirit on our relationship with the natural world. We will look to various wisdom traditions for guidance about our interrelatedness with all things and how to approach healing as a remembrance.

Students will develop a theoretical and experiential understanding of the way that consciousness comes into form through the elements. We will look at yogic/tantric, buddhist, and indigenous approaches to mapping the elements in nature and in the human body as they relate to mind, body, spirit, and emotions.

Students will weave what they are learning about nature and the elements with somatic clinical skills including somatic resourcing, tracking, and attunement. We will explore applications for mind/body/spirit integrative practice in nature oriented work such as movement, sound, breath, and visualization via lecture and experiential exercise/demonstration.

We will explore the potential impacts of working with clients on the practitioner and consider sustainable and culturally appropriate applications of energetic clearing techniques considering what students have learned about the elements and inspired by a variety of spiritual traditions that can support healing arts practitioners to practice self care as they work with others.
